Garden Project

Since 2005, an informal gardening group has worked with children to develop the garden areas in the school. Through community grants, and Council support compost bins and paper recycle bins have been installed. The vegetable garden was constructed and planted with a Darebin Community Grant. A Mitre10 Landcare grant provided funds to plant the front garden, some equipment and a worm farm.

The drought period until 2010 required the installation of water tanks to provide a sustainable means of watering. Over the summer holidays parent volunteers are needed to water the gardens. With water independent from mains supply, more vegetable garden beds could be built.

The N.E.A.T team

N.E.A.T stands for Northcote Environmental Action Team and we focus on helping and fixing the environment around our school.

Last term, N.E.A.T visited the new senior campus on Helen St and we made some proposals about how we can make it environmentally friendly and, at the same time, beautiful.
